Cell Phone Policy
Cell Phone Policy
Dear Families,
I am writing regarding Chancellor's Regulation A-413 on internet safety.
It has come to our attention that an increased number of students have been engaged in the misuse of social media platforms (Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.). Inappropriate use of social media platforms, Google Classroom, and group/mass text messaging, demonstrated by the creation, posting, or reposting of inappropriate comments, phrases, or videos is subject to Principal and/or Superintendent Suspensions. We strongly recommend that you monitor your child’s cell phone photos and videos, as well as their social media usage. Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams will meet with students over the following weeks to remind them of our policies concerning cell phones and social media. We will also discuss the severity of cyberbullying, the implications of abusing social media, and remind students that we are available to support them in peer relationships and internet safety. As a reminder, it is school policy that cell phones, electronics, and headphones are to be turned off and not visible. If these are seen by a staff member they will be confiscated.
Should you need to speak with your child, please call the main office at 718-645-1334 and we will have them brought to the phone.
Thank you for your collaboration and support. Please do not hesitate to contact any member of your grade team with questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Tami Flynn
Principal of School Safety
